The Cuvée Novecento Rosé Brut Metodo Classico is produced in Canelli, the historic cradle of Piedmont's great sparkling wines, and is the refined expression of 100% Pinot Noir. Obtained from only the first pressing, it ferments in steel at a controlled temperature and ages on the lees for at least 70 months, with manual riddling: a long period of time that translates into depth and stylistic precision. In the glass, it presents an elegant onion skin pink colour, crossed by a very fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is subtle and refined, with hints of wild berries, rosehip and delicate notes of citrus biscuit. On the palate, it is complex and mineral, supported by a vibrant acidity that accompanies nuances of candied citrus and toasted bread. The moderate dosage preserves its balance, offering a tense, harmonious and classy drink. A sparkling wine that interprets the Metodo Classico with authority and contemporary vision, designed for those who seek elegance, depth and identity in every sip.
Giuseppe Contratto founded his winery in 1867, vinifying Moscato grapes from the Monferrato area and producing one of the first Italian sparkling wines refermented in the bottle. During those same years, the Contratto family began construction of the historic winery, which was completed in the early 20th century. From success to success, and market to market, the Contratto winery has now surpassed the milestone of 120 years of history. In the meantime, the Contratto family was succeeded by the Bocchino family, already owners of the distillery of the same name, who invested in the relaunch of the company and began an important collaboration with Giorgio Rivetti, who has always been a great lover of Champagne. It was the Rivetti family who acquired the winery in 2011, giving new impetus to the production of quality sparkling wines and officially joining the Alta Langa Consortium, becoming a benchmark for the entire appellation. In 2014, the historic Contratto Wine Cathedral was officially declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This evocative and history-rich place is still today the setting for the long bottle ageing of classic method sparkling wines.
