    "Destriero" Rosso Piceno Superiore DOC 2022
  • Ruby red in colour with maraschino reflections, Destriero has an intense and persistent bouquet. Slightly ethereal, it finds a perfect match in the mouth, thanks to a pleasantly dry, ample and harmonious flavour. With a long finish, this Rosso Piceno DOC Superiore proposed by Cantine di Castignano is made from grapes grown in a restricted area between Ascoli Piceno and the sea. The blend, classic for the area, includes 50% Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes, in the same percentage. Its dry and savoury flavour goes very well with succulent foods. The perfect combination, according to the producers, is with truffle dishes, mushrooms and strongly flavoured meats. It is also excellent with strong, mature or, even better, blue cheeses. A real treat is a glass of this Destriero with a slice of toasted bread and some spicy Gorgonzola.

    Cantine di Castignano is a beautiful rural reality in the Piceno region. They work vines of unquestionable value, some selected autochthonous, which represent the wine identity of the region. The winery is located in the historic and characteristic village from which it takes its name. Founded in 1960, it was the first cooperative winery in the Piceno region, and is currently one of the largest in the Marche region. Thanks to its approximately 500 hectares of vineyards, managed with passion and skill by as many contributing members. A unique terroir that benefits from the influence of the Sibillini Mountains to the west and the Adriatic Sea to the east. For more than 50 years, it has been a reference point for wine-growing in the region, thanks to its still and sparkling wines, but also in the olive-growing sector, thanks to the production of top-quality extra-virgin olive oil in its own mill.
