Imbottigliato dalla Cantina Bonelli, via Roma 86 - 29029 Rivergaro Val rebbia (PC)
Let's start with an interesting fact. According to some sources, the name ‘Gutturnio’ may derive from an ancient Roman amphora, a ‘guttus’, found in the area where it is typically produced. A deep and millennial link between wine and the Trebbia Valley. A relationship that Cantine Bonelli has been able to honour and enhance, bottle after bottle. And Gutturnio Riserva DOC Tesor is the ultimate expression of this history. In the heart of the Trebbia Valley, the climate is ideal, with temperature variations that produce grapes of great quality. In particular, the vineyards that give life to Tesor are located about 300 metres above sea level. This particular soil is somewhat the key to everything. It is this soil that gives the wine its elegant structure and minerality, which can be perceived in every sip. To be a Gutturnio, the wine must be made from a blend of two native grape varieties: Barbera and Croatina. The former, which is the soul of the wine with a percentage between 55% and 70%, brings freshness and a marked acidity. Croatina, on the other hand, gives the finished wine its colour, softness and aromatic intensity. Riserva Tesor has a beautiful deep, intense ruby red colour. The nose is a symphony of aromas that unfold slowly: hints of ripe red fruit such as cherry and black cherry blend with spicy notes of black pepper, cloves and tobacco. A brief touch of vanilla and cocoa, due to the ageing in wood, completes the aromatic picture. In the mouth, it is powerful but balanced. Full and enveloping, with elegant tannins that are noticeable but not aggressive, making the wine pleasant and never tiring. The finish is long and persistent. At the table? It goes very well with hearty meat dishes: a roast, a rosmarin-flavoured tagliata or a nice plate of cold cuts, obviously from Piacenza.
Today we find ourselves in the beautiful Val Trebbia, a jewel set among the hills of Piacenza. A land rich in history, traditions and, above all, great wines. Here, since 1946, the Bonelli family has been writing its history, chapter after chapter, founding a winery that has become a benchmark for the entire region. Now passionately run by the third generation, the history of Cantine Bonelli began thanks to Anacleto Bonelli. With an intuition that was ahead of its time, Anacleto was able to embark on a path that we would now call “sustainability”, demonstrating a deep respect for nature and the resources of his territory. This commitment has never wavered, but rather has grown stronger over time, leading the company to pay scrupulous attention to the entire production chain. The goal is not to produce enormous quantities of wine, but to take care of every single bottle, ensuring that every sip tells the story of this valley and its native vines. The company's vineyards extend over unique, gravelly soil rich in rocky blocks of magmatic origin, which gives the wines an inimitable soul and character. A terroir that offers elegance and structure, distinctive elements found in all the historic labels.
