    Meerestein Shiraz-Mourvèdre 2017
  • It comes from a successful blend of Shiraz (or Syrah, to use the French term) and Mourvedre grapes. Both grapes, which originate in the Rhône Valley in France, are often used together to produce pleasantly fruity and intensely aromatic wines. This fine South African is no exception, made with grapes from the Western Cape region, where ocean currents create ideal conditions for quality winemaking. Intense and deep ruby red, this wine can count on aromas reminiscent of ripe red fruit, then vegetal notes and that unmistakable hint of spice, typical of Shiraz. On the palate, however, it is soft, well supported by a subtle tannic note and an equally pleasant natural acidity. Excellent on its own, this is the wine that should be uncorked to accompany a fine steak or roast to your satisfaction.

For lovers of fresh South African wines, Meerestein is certainly a brand to be discovered. Intense wines born of a desire to capture the true essence of this wonderful land in every bottle. Here it is the French international grape varieties that are the protagonists, starting with Chenin Blanc, which originated in the Loire region, but which reaches true peaks of excellence here. The secret is to know the characteristics of each plot of land and be able to create the right connection with the most suitable grape variety. In the cellar, then, the best oenological tradition and technological innovations make it possible to obtain extremely pleasant and versatile wines. A true joy for the palate.
