    Cabernet Sauvignon Friuli Isonzo DOC 2016
  • Rich Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the flat vineyards bordering the banks of the River Isonzo. It is from these grapes that Ascevi Luwa makes the wine it offers here. As always, the harvest is a decisive moment for the quality of the final wine. That is why, here too, the harvest is carried out strictly by hand, with careful selection of the bunches in the field so that only the best fruit reaches the cellar. The ripest ones, of course, but also the most intact and healthy ones. Everything is done with the utmost respect for the raw material. In this case, after vinification, the wine is left to rest for a few months, about a year, in oak barrels. This slow refinement ensures that it reaches the right level of complexity and pleasantness. In the glass it has a beautiful intense ruby red colour, tending to garnet. The nose is herbaceous, as is typical for the variety, with clear nuances of berries. In the mouth, on the other hand, it demonstrates good body, a discreet tannicity that does not, however, detract from a nice overall softness. Perfect in combination with grilled meats and roasts.

    San Floriano del Collio è uno di quegli angoli nascosti di Friuli che donano serenità a chi ha la fortuna di conoscerlo. Un magnifico paesaggio naturale, dove i vigneti si alternano ad alberi di ciliegi e boschi di acacie. Terra di confine, la Slovenia dista pochi chilometri in linea d’aria. E’ in questo luogo che nel 1972, una giovane coppia dà inizio alla sua attività. Mariano e Loredana, piantano il loro primo vigneto, destinato nel corso di anni a diventare la pietra angolare di quella che oggi è una bella azienda famigliare che può contare su circa 30 ettari di vigneto, nelle zone DOC Collio e Friuli Isonzo. Oggi ai due genitori si affiancano i figli Walter e Luana. La maggior parte dei vini prodotti, come tradizione vuole, sono figli di vitigni a bacca bianca, coltivati in vigneti che si trovano a una altitudine compresa tra i 150 e i 250 metri sul livello del mare. I vigneti del Friuli Isonzo, invece, si trovano nell’area pianeggiante, sulla sinistra del fiume. Se in cantina sono di rigore le moderne pratiche enologiche, la qualità dei vini targati Ascevi Luwa nasce in campagna. Perché è lì che nasce il vino. E una buona campagna fa un buon vino.
