"Fanova" Primitivo Gioia del Colle DOC 2021

Let's start with the name. Le Fanòve, with the accent on the 'o', are woodpiles - of various sizes - that are set on fire every year to commemorate the miracle granted by the Madonna della Vetrana who, in 1691, saved Castellana from the plague. To this tradition Terrecarsiche1939 dedicates this full-bodied red wine, the result of a pure processing of Primitivo grapes. Grapes from the area of Castellana Grotte, Acquaviva delle Fonti, the label bears the name Primitivo Gioia del Colle DOC. Vineyards located between 300 and 350 metres above sea level, the grapes ripen throughout the summer under the hot Apulian sun. Perfect ripeness only arrives in mid-September, when the grapes are harvested to be sent to the delicate transformation phase. Vinified in steel at a controlled temperature, after fermentation the wine is placed in large French oak barrels, where it matures for about 3 months. This is followed by bottling and refinement in glass for no less than 6 months. Then we discover a wine characterised by a beautiful intense ruby red colour, with intense aromas reminiscent of ripe red fruit, strawberries and cherries. Full and fragrant, in the mouth it reveals a harmonious taste, well balanced between all its components. Rich and full-bodied, it guarantees a long pleasantness, thanks to a particularly persistent finish. Perfect to enjoy with roasts and savoury earthy dishes. To appreciate it at its best, then, the Apulian winery's technicians suggest decanting it before serving.
