Lightly fruity with fresh blackcurrants, sage and thyme. Plenty of creme-de-cassis flavors are finely wrapped in succulent tannins on the medium-bodied palate, and that makes for attractive drinking now.
A blend of Nero d'Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon, this medium-bodied red opens with aromas of dark berry, bell pepper and ginger. The firm palate offers black currant, tobacco and cedar alongside polished tannins. KERIN O’KEEFE
60% Nero d'Avola and the rest is Cabernet Sauvignon. This is how the Cygnus produced by Tasca d'Almerita in the marvellous Regaleali estate was born, from this profoundly Sicilian blend. Curiosity: this wine is dedicated to Richard Wagner, who in 1881 completed the drafting of the third act of "Parsifal", right in the garden of Villa Tasca in Palermo. In the glass it is a beautiful deep ruby red colour. The nose contains vegetable notes, with typical Cab Sauvignon notes of bell pepper and tomato leaf, which are joined by the more typical Nero d'Avola recognitions such as red fruit. In the mouth it is powerful and structured, thanks to the moderate passage in wood that also gives it a long and pleasant finish.
