"Finell" Pinot Grigio Südtirol-Alto Adige DOC 2022

If the indication 100% Pinot Grigio makes you think of the impalpable white wines of the North East, you are mistaken. Finell, in fact, shares only the name of the original grape variety with those products. Let's start with the fact that this Pinot Grigio grows in Cardano, in the province of Bolzano, at about 350 metres above sea level. We continue with a vinification that involves a delicate pressing of whole grapes and a maceration of at least 8 hours on the skins. Then, after fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, the wine is aged "sur lies" while a part of the wine, about 20%, is aged in second-hand French oak barriques, for a period of about 4 months. The result is a wine characterized by a beautiful bright golden yellow colour with pink reflections, typical for the grape variety. Notes of flowers and ripe, sweet fruit on the nose. In the mouth, however, the pleasantness is guaranteed by a nice natural acidity, which integrates with the sweetness of the fruit. Then a strong mineral flavour that manifests itself with a subtle perception of salt. Rich in the finish and very persistent. An elegant wine full of vigor, with a seductive and youthful character.
