"Vuenne 612" Liguria di Levante Vermentino Nero IGT 2024
    • Vuenne 612 originates in the Colli di Luni, around Sarzana, where the hills slope down towards the Ligurian Sea. The vineyards are cultivated on clayey, mineral-rich soils and breathe in the sea breeze. This combination of compact soil, constant ventilation and temperature variations, from hot days to cool nights, helps to produce crisp fruit, good acidity and a balanced structure. Liguria di Levante IGT, Vuenne 612 fully expresses the vocation of the area, enhancing local grape varieties such as Vermentino Nero, a rare indigenous variety used for its ability to combine colour and savouriness with crisp fruity notes. The harvest takes place in mid-September. It is done manually to select only the best bunches. After destemming, maceration on the skins follows for about 5-7 days, just enough time to extract colour and soft tannins. Fermentation is spontaneous, with indigenous yeasts, in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Vuenne 612 then rests for a few months in tanks, without ageing in wood, to preserve the fruit and drinkability. Bright ruby red in colour, almost brilliant, with purple reflections, the nose reveals notes of fresh red fruit, such as cherry and raspberry, as well as a slightly spicy touch, with green notes reminiscent of the Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, the fruit is crisp, with a clear balance between acidity and soft tannins, all harmonised by a subtle sapidity. Each sip invites you to take another.

The Il Monticello winery, founded in 1982 by Pier Luigi Neri on the beautiful hills surrounding Sarzana, on the border between Liguria and Tuscany, represents a perfect combination of tradition, passion and innovation in winemaking. We are located within the Colli di Luni DOC appellation. The winery covers approximately 14 hectares of vineyards, planted with native grape varieties such as Vermentino, Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo, Pollera Nera and Massaretta. Pier Luigi Neri, a respected electronic engineer, started Il Monticello out of pure passion, starting from a 19th-century house surrounded by inherited vineyards. His sons Alessandro and Davide, after completing their studies and attracted to the world of wine from a young age, devoted themselves body and soul to the company, committing themselves to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. An interesting fact. The company was one of the first to introduce drones in viticulture to manage the vegetative state of the vines. Il Monticello is much more than a winery: it is a family history, a microcosm of sustainability and authenticity.
