The Il Monticello farm, founded in 1982 by Pier Luigi Neri on the beautiful hills surrounding Sarzana, on the border between Liguria and Tuscany, represents a perfect combination of tradition, passion and innovation in winemaking. We are located within the Colli di Luni DOC appellation. The winery covers approximately 14 hectares of vineyards, planted with native grape varieties such as Vermentino, Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo, Pollera Nera and Massaretta. Pier Luigi Neri, a respected electronic engineer, started Il Monticello out of pure passion, starting from a 19th-century house surrounded by inherited vineyards. His sons Alessandro and Davide, after completing their studies and attracted to the world of wine from a young age, devoted themselves body and soul to the company, committing themselves to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. An interesting fact. The company was one of the first to introduce drones in viticulture to manage the vegetative state of the vines. Il Monticello is much more than a winery: it is a family history, a microcosm of sustainability and authenticity.
