    CHARACTERISTICS
    • TypeVino rosso fermo
    • Location Bordeaux
    • Grapes merlot , cabernet franc
    • Sensations The colour is an intense garnet red. On the nose it releases delightful aromas of fruit (tart red berries), floral notes and hints of tobacco. A precise and refreshing attack leads to a palate where silky tannins blend with a lively structure that extends into a persistent finish.
    • Vinification Fermentation takes place in small vats and temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Gentle extraction through pump-overs and punch-downs preserves the purity of the fruit. Saignée (up to 20%) is used to harmonise the natural balance of the vintage. Maceration lasts around 24 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs in tank. Ageing takes place in underground cellars for 16–18 months in barrels (50% new and 50% one-year-old).

Château Les Grandes Murailles Grand Cru Classé 2021
    • Château Les Grandes Murailles is produced in the historic heart of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru AOC, on parcels located along the ancient walls of the medieval village. The vineyard, small in size, is almost entirely planted with Merlot, a grape variety that here develops natural depth and density. The clay-limestone soils give structure and tension to the fruit. Management focuses on rigorous grape selection and precision at every stage of production. In the cellar, extraction is carefully measured to enhance balance and definition. Oak ageing supports the structure without overloading the wine. In the glass it reveals ripe plum, blackberry, graphite and hints of sweet spice. The palate is compact, with well-built tannins and an enveloping progression. It is a Saint-Émilion of character, intense yet controlled.

Château Les Grandes Murailles is one of the most intimate and distinctive estates of Saint-Émilion. Located beside the historic walls of the village, it represents a niche production within Bordeaux’s Right Bank. The estate is now part of the group led by the Perse family, known for an ambitious and rigorous vision. The vineyard is small in size, allowing meticulous care of each parcel. The production philosophy focuses on controlled yields and strict selection. In the cellar, the approach is technical yet respectful of the identity of the terroir. The wines express concentration, depth and a strong sense of place. Les Grandes Murailles represents an intense and precise interpretation of Saint-Émilion, crafted for enthusiasts and collectors.
