Gassier Rosé is as fresh and clear as a morning on the slopes of Sainte-Victoire. The vineyards of Château Gassier stretch out at the foot of Mont Sainte-Victoire, the famous subject of Cézanne's paintings. The soils are made up of calcareous clay and pebbles that drain well and force the vines to develop deep roots. The result is more concentrated bunches rich in aromas. The microclimate here is characterised by hot summers and cool nights thanks to the “vent frais” (cool wind) which preserves freshness and minerality. An interesting fact: the area is also home to many prehistoric animal fossils, a sign of the long geological history of these hills, a true hidden heritage that enchants oenologists and geologists alike. A blend of Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault, in this case the grapes are harvested mechanically at dawn to preserve their fragrance. In the cellar, the grapes are then crushed and pressed slowly in a controlled atmosphere to avoid contact with oxygen. The must obtained ferments at low temperatures in steel, followed by ageing in stainless steel tanks to maintain the purity of the aromas. Clear colour, pale pink tending towards peach, with delicate notes of peach, nectarine, white flowers, grapefruit and a hint of spice on the nose. On the palate, it is structured, smooth and well balanced by a pleasant acidity, with a fresh and mineral finish. Like most Provençal rosés, Gassier Rosé is at its best within 18-24 months of harvest. During this time, it retains its aromatic vividness and brilliance, perfect for enjoying in summer.
Château Gassier is a family-run estate that has been passionately promoting the slopes of Mont Sainte-Victoire in Provence since 1982. Located in Puyloubier, it now has 40 hectares of organic vineyards at an altitude of around 330 metres, surrounded by a landscape considered a “Grand Site de France”. This is where Cézanne found his inspiration, and the same energy of the mountain now animates the estate's wines. The wide temperature range and the influence of the Provençal wind maintain the acidity and freshness typical of the wines of the area. Today, the estate is run by Georges Gassier and winemaker Léa Rouyet. The property has always been closely linked to this terroir, and six generations of winemaking are reflected in an artisanal philosophy that combines traditional methods and modern technology. Since 2010, the estate has been converting to organic viticulture, gradually extending certification to all its plots.
