Is Arenas responds to the Carignano vine enhancement project, carried out for years by the Sardus Pater winery, one of the most prolific cooperatives in Italy, which now has 200 members and a vineyard heritage divided between new plants and historic plots of land, planted almost one hundred years ago, in the pre-phylloxera era. The scenario is that of the island of Sant'Antioco, a picturesque strip of land in the south-west of Sardinia, which hosts one of the most beautiful wine-growing heritage of Italy in its sandy soils, amidst the typical vegetation of the Mediterranean, with a clear prevalence of rows of Carignano which Is Arenas comes from.
Cantina Sardus Pater was established in 1949 as a cooperative. Over the years the production of wines has been refined and has focused mainly on the enhancement of the Carignano grape.Most of the grapes come from the oldest vineyards on the island of Sant'Antioco. They are vineyards planted on sandy soils with low yields per hectare that produce grapes of absolute quality. Each bottle produced is the result of a wise selection of grapes and careful vinification, to guarantee the consumer a top-quality wine.
