Cantine Fina, Contrada Bausa sn, 91025 Marsala (TP)
When we think of Sicily, it is easy to let our imagination fly to one of the region's many indigenous grape varieties. In particular from western Sicily, a land kissed by the sun and caressed by the Mediterranean wind. It is here that Cantine Fina cultivates the Perricone grapes used to produce this Terre Siciliane IGP, a red wine that encapsulates the essence and nobility of this unique land. Perricone, an indigenous red grape variety, finds its ideal terroir in this area. The grapes, cultivated at 250 metres above sea level, benefit from a warm and temperate climate, with temperature excursions that favour aromatic complexity. Harvesting takes place at the end of September, guaranteeing perfectly ripe grapes rich in aromas. Vinified in steel, with six months' maturation in the bottle, this Perricone is a wine characterised by a beautiful intense ruby red colour, with a complex and intriguing bouquet. The nose clearly perceives spicy notes of juniper and black pepper that blend with hints of morello cherry, jam, plums and cherries, enriched by vegetable touches. In the mouth, however, the wine reveals itself to be elegant and structured, with a solid and soft tannicity, a good alcohol content and a final persistence that enhances its quality. A versatile wine, it pairs well with a wide variety of dishes. Ideal with semi-mature cheeses, sausages, baked pork knuckle, braised meats and roasts.
Bruno Fina, and his sons, are the soul of Cantine Fina. We are in Sicily, and to be precise in that enchanted corner of the island that overlooks the Egadi Islands. In Marsala, to be precise, where there is the little jewel of the Stagnone Reserve, with the island of Mothia at its centre and the ancient salt pans all around. It is here that the family produces the good wines of the family tradition. The cellar is modern, skilfully designed by Bruno himself to rationalise space and production processes. Everything here is conceived, and realised, with the utmost respect for the integrity of the fruit. And the results can be appreciated in the glass. It is no coincidence that Fina is now one of the best known, and respected, names in Sicilian oenology. From Sicily to the world.
