Sicilia Doc, this Siquelia white wine is the result of a pure processing of one of the most appreciated grapes of the island. The Grillo, a white grape variety grown mainly on the west coast of Sicily, is a grape characterised by a natural aromaticity and a good propensity for ageing. It is no coincidence that it is also the grape used in the production of many Marsala wines. In the case of Siquelia, however, the aim is to create a fresh and immediate wine. Simple and linear. They achieve this thanks to a super-efficient processing, without any particular technical tricks, so as not to alter the qualitative potential of the original grapes. This is why, at the end of vinification, the ageing phase takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, where the wine rests for 5 or 6 months on the noble lees, acquiring depth and richness of flavour. Brilliant straw yellow in colour with marked greenish reflections, this wine reveals an ample and distinctly floral bouquet. It recalls notes of white flowers and Mediterranean citrus fruits, with subtle hints of pear. In the mouth, on the other hand, we find a pleasantly fresh, dry and harmonious wine. A white wine with a good structure, it has a balanced flavour. An excellent wine for the whole meal, it is perfect as an aperitif or with hors d'oeuvres. Excellent with all fish dishes and white meats.
Siquelia is Marzia Lo Vecchio's Sicilian company, dynamic and with a strong and decisive character, founded on a passion for her land, with its ancient winemaking traditions, mixed with a sophisticated and refined creative taste. The result is a contemporary line of high quality wines, made from fine grapes of indigenous varieties grown in the Belice Valley, one of the most renowned areas in Sicily today for the production of quality wines, where vines and wine have always been a constant presence. Here the vineyards, located at altitudes ranging from 350 to 450 metres above sea level, have favourable east/west exposures. Ideal microclimatic conditions, with intense sunlight, mild temperatures and a good temperature range between day and night, are key factors in the natural ripening process of the grapes and the concentration of aromatic substances in their skins. After harvesting, the grapes are vinified in Partinico, in the cellar of winemaker Vincenzo Bambina.
