A true Monferrato speciality, Grignolino has long been little considered by enthusiasts and experts. And that is a real shame. And has been doing so since 2006. 100% Grignolino, the 'unofficial' mention of Vigne Vecchie in this case definitely fits, given that the original planting of the vineyard, 1.8 hectares in total, dates back to 1961. Super careful vinification, with a very long contact between must and skins (about 40 days), after racking the wine matures for 30 months in French oak tonneaux and then refines for 24 months in the bottle. In the glass it has an intense garnet colour, with aromas of great complexity. Hints of dried flowers and berry jam, then balsamic hints of eucalyptus and spicy hints of pepper and cloves. In the mouth it is clean and enveloping at the same time, with a dense tannicity, typical of the type. A wine of great class and strong personality, it offers a long persistence. It is not suitable for the classic rib-eye steak but is perfect with white meats with a more delicate taste. It is also excellent with some fish dishes, e.g. grilled salmon
