Technical Data Sheet
CHARACTERISTICS
  • TypeDry Still Red Wine IGT
  • Location Tuscany
  • Grapes 80% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Sensations Intense ruby red colour with violet hues, it has notes of red fruit combined with pleasant aromas of sweet spice and underbrush. The palate is full-bodied with soft, composed tannins. Long and persistent finish.
  • Vinification Delicate defoliation and thinning in the vineyard, followed by an accurate manual selection of the grapes, have guaranteed the vinification of grapes of good quality and varietal identity. During the fermentation process in truncated cone tanks, the musts were macerated with extreme care towards the freshness of the aromas, the extraction of colour and the management of the tannins aimed at sweetness and elegance. Once the skins were separated from the wine, malolactic fermentation began in barriques, enhancing the finesse and pleasantness of the aromas. Thus began the aging process that lasted about 12-14 months, in French and Hungarian oak barrels, partly new and partly used for the first time. The different lots, vinified separately according to variety, were elevated in wood and then assembled a few months before bottling.
  • Alcoholic strength 14% vol.

Wonderful aromas of pine needles, rosemary, fresh mushrooms, bark and dark fruit. Full body. Very tight and tannic backbone. Racy and driven. Undertones of orange peel and wet earth. Even licorice and mint. Great finish. Better after 2021, but exciting to taste now.

  • Wine Spectator

A big, lush style, this red delivers pure aromas and flavors of black currant, cherry, violet, flint, tobacco and baking spices. This is supple, yet backed by a firm, dense matrix of tannins, so all the components are there, but this needs time to integrate. Lovely sweet, ripe finish. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2022 through 2040.

  • Bibenda Present in the guide!
    Tignanello Toscana IGT
  • Tignanello 2020 is the child of an exceptional Tuscan climate. The vintage was characterised by an ideal climatic balance, with sunny days and cool nights, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly. In the glass, it reveals a deep, vibrant ruby colour. Intense ruby red in colour, Tignanello 2020 strikes the nose for its complexity: notes of ripe fruit such as cherry, strawberry and blackberry accompany delicate floral hints of violet, mauve and rose; toasted coffee and cocoa powder complete the bouquet. The initial entry on the palate is vibrant, then buoyant and dimensional. On the finish, spicy notes of pepper and liquorice combine with pleasant sensations of aromatic herbs giving length and freshness.

The biggest brand in wine with a history spanning more than 600 years: Antinori is this and much more! Just think of the estates: the historic ones in Tuscany and Umbria have been joined by investments in other areas suited to the production of quality wines, even abroad. A name that has always been able to innovate, outlining what are now the production guidelines of many other companies and thus becoming the precursor of a style that today represents us in the world.
