"Bellone" IGT Lazio

Unless you are from the Lazio region (or at least from central Italy), it's likely that you have never heard of the Bellone grape variety. A grape widely cultivated in Lazio, in particular in the Castelli area where, thanks to the volcanic soils, it has been at home since ancient times. Locally, Bellone is often called by synonyms such as Cacchione and Arciprete. But don't be fooled. The grapes are the same and the quality of the wines is always excellent. The version proposed here by Tenuta De' Notari is simple but pleasant. Maturation in steel and refinement in the bottle. All done to make the most of the good starting fruit. The result is a beautiful white with a vivid colour. The nose is dominated by exotic and juicy fruits, such as mango and papaya. In the mouth,the pleasant freshness, typical of the variety stands out, well balanced, however, by all the other components. A great wine for a meat dinner. In Lazio it is often served with the classic zuppa povera (poor man’s soup).
