A blend of 35% Pugnitello, 30% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Vigorello seems to have the concept of vigor and strength at its very core. The wine opens to an inky dark appearance, with thick layers of dark fruit, spice, cured leather, camphor and campfire ash. You feel the sweet ripeness of the warm vintage in the soft and succulent quality of the background structure. Some 38,000 bottles were made.
Beautiful aromas of blackcurrants and blackberries with hints of lavender. Full body, chewy yet polished tannins and a slightly austere finish. This will turn out beautifully with a few years of bottle age. Try after 2021.
This is spicy, showing black pepper, saturated black cherry, plum, earth, iron and tobacco flavors. Dense and opaque, with a long aftertaste of dark fruit. Pugnitello, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2021 through 2033. 3,400 cases made, 800 cases imported. — BS
The first Supertuscan in Chianti Classico since 1968. It has an important history and today it stands out on the market for wines in this category for one reason: it combines the tradition of international grape varieties such as Cabernet and Merlot with the inclusion of a native grape, Pugnitello, which is unique to San Felice.
San Felice is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, a few kilometres from Castelnuovo Berardenga and Siena. It is a company of about 1700 hectares, 185 of which are planted with vines in the three most prestigious production areas of Tuscany: Chianti Classico, Montalcino and Bolgheri. San Felice immediately stands out in the production of excellent wines in the three denominations, winning prestigious international awards, in a continuous evolution in quality, research and product innovation. Since the 1980s he has undertaken an important activity of experimentation on ancient Tuscan vines, including the "Pugnitello", today the symbol of a particularly expressive iconic label. Moreover, over the years the historic medieval village, which was built in the middle of the vineyards, became a 5-star hotel that was the first Resort in Chianti Classico to enter the international circuit of luxury hotellerie Relais Chateaux in 1992.
