Silvaner Alto Adige DOC 2021

We certainly would not put it in the small group of "common" grape varieties in Italy. Yet Silvaner is a grape that can really give great satisfaction. Originally from Germany, this grape variety has found a home in several wine regions of the world, including Italy, and in particular South Tyrol, where, thanks to its cool climate and mineral-rich soils, it gives rise to truly interesting products. Like this one proposed by Muri-Gries. In this case, the grapes grow on the southeast-facing slopes of the Bolzano municipality, at an altitude of about 500 meters. Sandy, gravelly soils that are particularly suited. In the cellar, after a week of temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, the wine ages in tanks, also made of steel. In the glass it has an inviting deep straw yellow color, with clear aromas that recall herbs, such as chamomile and dried hay, fresh flowers, arnica and dandelion. In the mouth, however, it impresses with good structure and pleasant acidity. It is an inviting and pleasant drinking wine, with a warm and persistent finish. Best served chilled, paired with elaborate hors d'oeuvres, it also pairs well with grilled fish and aged cheeses.
