"Badia a Passignano" Chianti Classico DOCG 2020 - Antinori Tenuta Tignanello

Badia a Passignano is one of the beautiful estates owned by the Antinori family, a name that, in the world of wine, certainly needs no introduction. It is located above Sambuca Val di Pesa, 3 km south of Tenuta Tignanello, another of the family's 'beautiful' estates. 223 hectares, 65 of which are planted with vines, on land that is ideal for the production of Sangiovese, between 250 and 300 metres above sea level, one of the most beautiful and vocated areas of Chianti Classico. It is no coincidence that vines have always been cultivated here. This is proven by the discovery in 1983, in the land surrounding Badia a Passignano, of a thousand-year-old vitis vinifera plant. A 100% Sangiovese, this Gran Selezione presents itself in the glass with a beautiful ruby red colour. On the nose, intense notes of ripe red fruit, cherries under spirits and black cherry stand out, combined with citrus sensations of blood orange and delicate floral hints of lavender. Sweet nuances of vanilla and pleasant spicy hints of cloves and leather complete the complex bouquet. In the mouth, on the other hand, the entrance is enveloping, well supported by vibrant and silky tannins that also accompany a long, persistent and savoury finish. Pleasant is the aftertaste of bitter cocoa and citrus fruits. To do justice to such a wine... there is nothing better than a juicy grilled steak.

It can be said that the Antinori family has represented Italian wine in the world practically as long as it has existed. And that would not even be an exaggeration given that the Antinori have been dedicated to the vineyard and the cellar for more than six hundred years. Ever since Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri in 1385. Since then, no less than 26 generations of the family have succeeded one another at the helm of the group, which today is one of the best known and most appreciated worldwide. Today, the company is headed by Marchese Piero Antinori, with the support of his three daughters Albiera, Allegra and Alessia, all personally involved in the company's activities. To the family's historic Tuscan and Umbrian estates, several others have been added over time. Everywhere, the aim of the Antinori family is to make the most of the peculiar terroir, to produce fascinating and somehow memorable wines. Among the 'masterpieces' signed by Antinori, one cannot forget the great family Supertuscans, Solaia and Tignanello, mythical bottles that enthusiasts all over the world eagerly await, vintage after vintage. Or the Chianti Classico wines that represent a quality benchmark for all enthusiasts.
