The Chianti Classico Riserva is 95% Sangiovese with 5% Merlot aged in large oak casks for 24 months. Some 40,000 bottles were produced. The estate's base Chianti Classico is redolent of bright fruit and explosive cherry. However, this Riserva offers more definition, intensity and complexity. Beyond that bright primary fruit, the wine shows etched mineral notes that are focused and pristine in character. You also get a solid sense of this mid-weight wine's structure and the firm nature of the tannins.
This is a decadent Perano with lots of dried dark fruit, ranging from blackberries to dried elderberries and vanilla. Full body, plenty of plush dark fruit, muscular tannins and a fruit-driven finish. Drink from 2024.
Aromas of black-skinned fruit, toasted nut and scorched earth mix with a whiff of tobacco leaf. It's firmly structured but elegant, offering ripe Marasca cherry, blackberry, brown pepper and a hint of orange zest alongside fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. It closes on a coffee note. Pure and saturated flavors of black currant, blackberry and violet are the hallmarks of this red. Harmonious and approachable despite the solidly built structure, featuring freshness and a lingering aftertaste of fruit, earth and iron. Best from 2021 through 2036. 250 cases imported.
This Chianti Classico Riserva is created in the heart of Chianti Classico, in a natural amphitheatre facing south-west with exceptional pedoclimatic conditions due to its uniqueness and quality. We are in Gaiole in Chianti, in the vineyards of the Perano estate at an altitude of 500 metres, where Sangiovese finds one of its most elegant expressions, rich in personality. The result of careful manual selection in the vineyard, it is then aged in oak barrels for 24 months.
The Perano Estate is located in the heart of Chianti Classico in the commune of Gaiole, in an exceptional pedoclimatic situation for its uniqueness and quality. The vineyards are located at 500 metres above sea level, an altitude almost at the limit for red varieties and in particular for Sangiovese, which ripens late. Strong verticality, ideal for ventilation. A natural amphitheatre to catch the light, high altitudes, high vocation soils, draining and rich in stones.
