Chianti Riserva DOCG Nipozzano - Frescobaldi

Castello di Nipozzano is the most famous and historic property of the Frescobaldi family, in the heart of the prestigious Chianti Rufina area. The right mix of altitude, soil and cool, breezy microclimate creates the ideal conditions for the production of wines with character and capable of aging for a long time. Elevated in barrique for about 24 months on second and third passage, this Chianti reveals itself as a complex, intense and fine wine. Ruby red in colour, the nose immediately recalls violets followed by a wide range of red fruits. In the mouth it is warm, with tannins in good evidence and a very long persistence.

Thirty generations and over 700 years of history. With these two "business cards", the Frescobaldi winery presents itself on markets around the world as an absolute protagonist, with the objective of becoming the most prestigious Tuscan wine producer. Today the company can count on an immense area of vineyards. We are talking about more than 1000 hectares, scattered around the most interesting wine areas of the region. The annual production is around seven million bottles and includes all the most important appellations, from Chianti to Pomino, passing through Montalcino and Maremma. Traditional varieties are grown in each area, thanks to perfect knowledge of the specific terroirs. Never more than in this case... experience really does make a difference.

  • Sensations Intense ruby red colour denotes a decisive and elegant character. Red fruits and ripe citrus notes give rise to a delicately fruity nose, followed by elegant notes of violet. This is complemented by a light spice. The palate expresses itself with an intriguing harmonic complexity; dense and persistent
  • Vinification The harvest began in the early days of September. As soon as they were harvested, the grapes were immediately brought to the winery. Once destemmed, the spontaneous fermentation process took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. At the end of this, the wine remained in the vats to conclude maceration. Following racking, malolactic fermentation took place, again in steel. At the end of the year the wine was transferred into barriques, where it aged for the next 24 months. The further period in bottles allowed Nipozzano 2016 to express itself to the full, making it a wine of exceptional expressive balance

    This firm, rich red shows the freshness of the appellation in a hot, ripe year like 2017. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Fine tannins. Dried mushroom, walnut and bark undertones to the ripe berries. Solid wine. Drink or hold.
