Imbottigliato daCastello di Albola Via Pian d’Albola, 31 - 53017 Radda in Chianti (Siena)
Castello di Albola is a historic estate covering over 900 hectares, 125 of which are planted with vines, between 350 and 650 metres above sea level. Owned by the Zonin family, this splendid winery is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, in Radda in Chianti. The Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG offered here is organic and made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, the grape variety that symbolises Tuscany. The vines grow on soils rich in alberese, a limestone rock that contributes to the minerality and structure of the wine. The vinification is meticulous and traditional, involving fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for about 25 days to promote the extraction of colour and aromas. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 14 months: 60% in 34-hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels and 40% in French oak barriques and tonneaux. This is followed by a further 18 months of ageing in the bottle, for a total of over 32 months before release. In the glass, it has an intense and lively ruby red colour. The nose immediately reveals fruity notes of wild berries, tobacco and liquorice. On the palate, it is enveloping and elegant, with fine acidity and a long, persistent finish. Already enjoyable today, this Riserva has an ageing potential of around 20 years, during which it will develop further aromatic complexity.
Nestled in the hills of Chianti Classico, Castello di Albola is a wine-making gem that combines history, elegance and Tuscan authenticity. The estate belongs to the Zonin family and stands on an ancient medieval village, surrounded by vineyards that extend up to 600 metres above sea level. Here, wines of great finesse are produced, such as Chianti Classico and Supertuscan Acciaiolo, the result of a unique terroir and environmentally friendly viticulture. Tradition and innovation coexist harmoniously in every bottle, a sincere expression of the most authentic Tuscany. A winery to discover, amidst art, nature and great wines.
