Imbottigliato all'origine dalla Cantina La Poderina
This Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is produced in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, where every row of Sangiovese Grosso grapes basks in the bright sunlight and breezes of the most suitable hills. The harvest is strictly manual, an ancient practice that selects only the best bunches before beginning a precise vinification process: slow maceration, daily pumping over, délestage, and a post-fermentation phase that sculpts the structure and depth. The long journey in French oak, with weekly bâtonnage, gives the wine a noble complexity: after the first months of active aging, another 19 months of quiet transform the energy of Sangiovese into pure elegance. In the glass, it presents itself with an intense ruby color, crossed by aromas of black cherry, small red fruits, vanilla, and tobacco in perfect balance. On the palate, it is full-bodied, decisive, and harmonious: the authentic signature of a great Riserva.
Tenute del Cerro embodies a great oenological dream, which began in 1978 with the acquisition of Fattoria del Cerro in Acquaviva di Montepulciano and Tenuta di Montecorona in Umbria, and continued with the addition of other historic estates such as La Poderina in Montalcino, Còlpetrone in the heart of Montefalco, and Monterufoli in the Pisan hills. Today, the group owns almost 5,000 hectares, of which about 300 are vineyards. The result of continuous investment in precision viticulture and technological cellars, the company embraces agriculture 4.0 and sustainability models, guided by high-level management and availing itself of the advice of renowned oenologists such as Riccardo Cotarella. The beating heart of the company is Fattoria del Cerro, the largest private estate within the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG appellation, with 93 hectares registered in the register. Since 2002, the group has been part of the Japanese multinational Saiwa—now Mitsubishi—through its Italian subsidiary UnipolSai. This link has brought a significant boost in terms of innovation and investment, without distorting the agricultural and territorial soul of the estates. An interesting fact: in the heart of Fattoria del Cerro there is an ancient Etruscan sluice gate, from which one of the company's most iconic labels takes its name. A symbol of deep roots and a thousand-year-old bond with the territory.
