In the 1970s, Rémi and Henri Krug, the fifth generation of the family, succeeded their father at the head of the Maison. It was their idea to create a completely new Krug Champagne. A Rosé unlike any other. The idea took shape during the 1976 harvest, after numerous tasting sessions. Yet it was presented to the world only seven years later, in 1983. Only such a long period of rest allows this wine to reach a truly unique expression and elegance. Krug Rosé reveals a wide range of elegant fruit notes, offering remarkable breadth and depth. Perfect with richly flavoured dishes, this Champagne is even capable of replacing excellent red wines thanks to its vibrancy. As always with Maison Krug, these bottles result from a complex blend of several reserve wines. For this reason, every vintage – or rather every edition – surprises with different nuances. Each edition is created from a specific harvest, while reserve wines can represent more than 70% of the final blend. To discover everything about each bottle, Krug offers a unique tool on its website: an ID code that allows you to relive every stage in the creation of the cuvée. Maison Krug was founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary nonconformist driven by an ambitious and uncompromising vision. His dream was to offer the finest Champagne in the world year after year, regardless of weather variations. He therefore chose to make the most of his reserve wines, ensuring an infinite variety of base wines from which to craft his cuvées. This vast library of wines allowed Joseph Krug to realise his dream. With a distinctly original approach, he decided to move beyond the concept of vintage Champagne and instead focus each year on creating Champagne with the same level of distinction. For this reason, for nearly two centuries Krug has presented a new “Édition” of Krug Grande Cuvée every year. In the words of Olivier Krug, current Director of the Maison and sixth generation of the family: “Every year the inspiration is the same, but the creation is completely unique and different.”
