Champagne Aubry Rosé Brut Premier Cru
    • Champagne, especially rosé, can be much more than just a toast. It can become a versatile travelling companion, capable of adding a touch of elegance even to a simple evening with friends. But let's proceed in order. Maison Aubry is a historic company founded in 1790 with the aim of making wines that were the purest expression of their territory. Today, with vineyards scattered between Villers-Marmery and Pargny-lès-Reims, the Aubry brothers maintain an approach that combines tradition and innovation, with a focus on sustainable practices and the promotion of the oldest vines. This Premier Cru rosé is somewhat of a manifesto of the maison's philosophy. It is made from 60% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Meunier and Noir, and the remaining 15% is vin rouge, which adds freshness, colour and aromatic complexity. The vinification process follows the most classic tradition, with an “all Aubry” touch. The grapes are harvested by hand and each parcel is vinified separately to enhance its specific characteristics. This is followed by a long period on the lees, for over 36 months, which gives the finished wine remarkable complexity and a fine, creamy and persistent bubble. In the glass, it has a pale, bright pink colour, crossed by golden reflections that become more evident as time passes. The bouquet is rich in small berries, such as currants, raspberries and wild strawberries, with hints of rose and a touch of red citrus fruits, such as orange. After a few moments, more complex notes of bread crust, yeast and toasted hazelnuts emerge, demonstrating its long ageing on the lees. This is confirmed on the palate. The attack is fresh and creamy, with a savoury and enveloping mouthfeel that never loses its dynamism. The finesse of the bubbles and their persistence integrate perfectly with a pleasant acidity that cleanses the palate, leaving a trail of fruity and mineral sensations. This rosé lends itself to many pairings. It is splendid with tuna carpaccio and is also appreciated with soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert. Finally, if you want to be daring, it can also be served with sliced duck with orange sauce. The sweetness of the meat and the acidity of the sauce balance beautifully with its freshness.

Champagne Aubry is a family-run Maison that stands out in the varied Champagne landscape for its strong identity. Its headquarters are in Jouy-lès-Reims, in the north of Champagne, in the so-called Petit Montagne de Reims, much appreciated by those who love Champagne with character. The company is run by Pierre and Philippe Aubry, two brothers who represent the latest generation of a family with roots in viticulture dating back to 1790. Pierre studied oenology and Philippe studied biology: a useful combination for harmonising tradition and innovation. The vineyards are spread over approximately 60 parcels covering an area of about 15 hectares, in renowned communes such as Jouy-lès-Reims, Pargny, Villedommage, Coulommes-la-Montagne and Pargny. Here, the microclimate, thanks to the surrounding hills and moderate altitude, helps to maintain freshness and balanced acidity in the grapes. The vineyards are meticulously cared for, with a selection of individual plots and very low yields to obtain the highest quality. In the cellar, however, respect for tradition prevails, with lightly dosed wines and practices that reveal the terroir. Some cuvées are also fermented in wood. Furthermore, Aubry does not limit himself to using the most well-known grape varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay. In fact, the brothers have also reintroduced ancient grape varieties that had almost disappeared, such as Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Fromenteau (Blanc Vrai), which give the wines unique nuances.
