CHARACTERISTICS
  • TypeVino rosso fermo
  • Location Languedoc-Roussillon
  • Grapes Pinot Nero
  • Sensations This 100% Pinot Noir comes from the coolest high-altitude vineyards in the region. It offers notes of fresh fruit: black cherry, wild raspberry and spices. Pinot Noir is delicate and demanding. Red wines of great finesse are produced from it. It gives rather round and fruity wines, to be drunk young. On the palate, it offers a velvety texture with beautiful breadth, silky tannins and an elegant, balanced finish.
  • Vinification The grapes are harvested at the end of September when perfectly ripe. The yield is controlled to obtain good concentration and elegant tannins. The grapes are separated from the stems by destemming before being placed in vats for a maceration period of 10-15 days. The polyphenols are gently extracted by punching down and pumping over according to daily tastings. The wine is partially matured in 225-litre barriques for several months to bring in the typical aromatic complexity while respecting the fruit and elegance of the vine.

"Côte des Roses" Pinot Noir 2021 IGP
  • Pays d'Oc PGI, this Pinot Noir is part of Gérard Bertrand's Côte des Roses line. Pinot Noir, it is worth remembering, is considered one of the noblest vines in the world, but also one of the most difficult to work with and to make the most of. In order to obtain wines of extraordinary finesse, as in this case, it is necessary to have a great deal of experience, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. In this case, the grapes are harvested at the end of September, when they are perfectly ripe. In the vineyard, the yield is deliberately kept low to obtain a good concentration of aromas and elegant tannins. In the cellar, the grapes are destemmed before being placed in steel tanks for the maceration phase, which continues for about 10-15 days. Constant pressing and pumping over are essential to extract the best colour and aromas from the grapes. At the end of the transformation, the wine is partially aged in barriques for a few months, until it reaches the desired aromatic complexity, always respecting the fruit and elegance of the vine. 100% Pinot Noir from the highest and coolest vineyards in the region, the nose offers notes of fresh fruit, such as black cherry, wild raspberry and spices. Delicate and fine, it is round and fruity in the mouth. A wine to enjoy from a young age, with a velvety texture and beautiful breadth. The tannins are silky, while the finish is elegant and balanced. Excellent with cured meats and medium-aged cheeses, it goes well with meat dishes. Perfect with roasts and the classic grilled chicken.

The story goes that Gérard Bertrand harvested his first grapes back in 1975, working alongside his father Georges for the next 12 years. He was then among the vineyards of Château de Villemajou in the heart of the AOC Corbières. Since then, almost half a century later, Gérard's business has grown a great deal, to the point where it now covers practically all the best terroirs in the South of France. What began as a small family estate under his leadership has developed into the most important producer in the region. Today, there are no fewer than 11 Châteaus under Gérard Bertrand's hat, producing all the major appellations of Southwest France. For years, the company has also been recognised as one of the most important producers of organic and biodynamic wines in the country. As well as for the production of rosé wines, including some of the world's best-selling and most prized.
