    Pecorino Spumante Brut
  • Pecorino, not many know, is a white grape variety indigenous to the Marche region. However, it is mainly in Abruzzo where it has found excellent conditions, managing to express wines of excellent quality. The fundamental characteristic of this grape is undoubtedly its beautiful natural acidity, which makes it perfect for producing bubbles. The Citra technicians are well aware of this, and with this 'Peco Rino' Brut they succeed in capturing all the goodness of the starting material. Classic white vinification, with crushing and soft pressing of the grapes, after an initial alcoholic fermentation the wine undergoes a second fermentation at a controlled temperature in an autoclave with selected yeasts. Second fermentation lasts about 10/15 days, at the end of which we discover a wine characterised by a beautiful pale yellow colour, with a fine and persistent perlage. The nose is pleasantly intense, with balsamic fragrances of sage and thyme that combine with floral hints of broom and acacia. On the palate it is delicately fresh and full, characterised by excellent minerality and a rich acid structure. Liveliness and fragrance enhance its persistence. This Pecorino Brut 'made in Abruzzo' is perfect as an aperitif and with fish dishes. For an elegant aperitif, Rino and oysters.

    Codice Citra represents the largest community of winegrowing members in Abruzzo, bringing together 3,000 families united by their respect for nature. The headquarters, the imposing winery, is located in Ortona, in the province of Chieti. A few kilometres separate it from the sea. A few more from the foothills of the Apennines. In between, there is another sea. It is the one represented by the many vineyards that neatly subdivide the surrounding countryside. Suffice it to say that there are around 6,000 hectares of vineyards belonging to Citra and that the winery is equipped with two bottling lines capable of churning out 20,000 bottles of wine per hour. But these numbers should not frighten. Although large, and Codice Citra really is, this winery has never lost the taste (and pleasure) of producing good wines. Deeply attached to their home territory, they have been a reference point for the region for 45 years.
