There's no mistaking this wine for anything but Brunello. The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows beatiful continuity, crescendoing on the nose and palate in synchronicity. There are aromas of grilled watermelon, red cherry, garden herb and violet, and there is a charred note that recalls the toasted oak. The bouquet balances out beautifully, but you do get considerably more power on the palate thanks to the oomph of 15% alcohol and young tannins that get under your gums. Give this wine a few more years of the bottle age. Production is 66,915 bottles in addition to 4,500 smaller formats.

Sour cherries with stone and bark understones to the aromas. Medium body, firm tannins and a long, linear finish that ends tight. But this will soften with some age. Subtle bark and dried mushroom character at the end. Drink after 225, but already pretty.

  • Wine Spectator 94

Dusky cherry and plum flavors are the main themes in this red, with accents of leather, spices and wild herbs. Lively nd focused, with excellent harmony and a sequel of ripe cherry on the lingering finish. Best from 2026 through 2042. 10,000 cases made, 2,800 cases imported.

    Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
  • Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona's Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is a sublime expression of the ancient oenological traditions of this region. It comes from vineyards located in the commune of Montalcino, at an altitude ranging between 240 and 360 metres above sea level. This wine is the result of a careful selection of Sangiovese, cultivated on medium-textured, marl-rich soils of Eocene origin. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and vitrified cement vats, where the temperature is controlled by means of cooling jackets and immersion plates. This process makes it possible to best preserve the aromas and scents characteristic of Sangiovese grapes. For the maturation phase, then, Slavonian oak casks of 20 to 75 hectolitres are used, where the wine rests for about two years, followed by a further refinement in the bottle of more than 8 months. Ruby red colour tending towards garnet, on the nose notes of red berry fruit and a slight spiciness. In the mouth it is warm, soft and very balanced. A wine characterised by a good body, with moderately pronounced tannins and a long taste-olfactory persistence. This Brunello is the ideal companion for rich and tasty dishes. Excellent with game, roast or stewed and with first courses dressed with meat sauces. It is also an excellent companion for mature cheeses.

We are located in the heart of the beautiful Tuscan hills. Here, the Azienda Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona has around 200 hectares of property, of which 35 are dedicated to vineyards and 40 to olive groves. This marvellous estate embodies the very essence of the Montalcino territory, where land and history come together in an indissoluble union. The beating heart of the estate is a magnificent palace dating back to the 17th century. Within the centuries-old walls of this splendid building are the cellars, where the best Brunello crus rest. The constant search for quality guides every stage of the production process, imposing assiduous and careful control that begins from the moment the grapes arrive in the cellar. Every detail is attended to with the utmost precision to ensure the creation of a Brunello di Montalcino of extraordinary complexity and character.
