    Refosco PR Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2018
  • It is almost a symbol of Friuli. Refosco, in fact, is an indigenous variety of the region with a long tradition. The name "dal peduncolo rosso" (red stalk) derives from the colour of the stalk that keeps the grapes firmly attached to the vine. Soft and generous, it has a distinct gastronomic vocation. Sirch offers it here in a super traditional version. At the end of vinification, the wine is transferred into steel tanks or barriques, where it matures on its lees for several months, with frequent bâtonnage to keep it in suspension. The wine is then racked and blended, followed by bottling and a further period of refinement in the bottle. Intense ruby red colour with violet reflections, it fascinates on the nose for its typical and vinous perfume, with hints of plum and wild blackberry. In the mouth it is pleasantly warm, with an evident hint of liquorice and a splendid persistence. It is the right wine to offer when the menu is robust. Excellent with game, it also accompanies with pleasure simple grilled meats, salami and mature cheeses.

    A deep bond with tradition. This is the real fil-rouge of the entire activity of Sirch, the Friulian company that today belongs to the large Feudi di San Gregorio group. For Sirch, tradition is everything. The company was founded in the mid-1950s, when production methods were very different from those of today, but the territory already offered grapes of great quality. Since 1970, the company's vineyards have belonged to the Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC (which since 2011 has been called Friuli Colli Orientali). With the new millennium, Sirch restructured the winery, invested in new land and increased production and the number of bottles. The typical Sirch wines are fresh and young wines that know how to interpret tradition in a modern way and express the variety of the best wine expressions of the region. Today Sirch is one of Friuli's finest and exports its wines to several countries.
