Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso Friuli Colli Orientali 2016 - Ronchi di Cialla

It comes from a pure processing of Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso grapes, typical of the region and of the Colli Orientali area. Vinification begins with a maceration phase that lasts about 4 weeks. Fermentation, as is typical for the company, is triggered thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts, without intervention by the winemaker. After racking, the wine is then put into French oak barriques and partly into Slavonian oak barriques. This delicate phase lasts for about 14-18 months, after which the wine is blended and bottled for the final stage of refinement in the bottle. The result is a wine with enormous ageing potential. It is not afraid of the passing of the years, if it is stored well, and can easily continue to evolve in the cellar for 20-25 years. If uncorked a few minutes before the start of the meal, this Refosco is a fine accompaniment to roast red meats and game. Perfect with grilled meats, it is also fantastic when served with traditional regional cured meats and cheeses.

When you think of Friuli and a company that has been able to represent the region at its best in the world, Ronchi di Cialla is certainly one of the first to come to mind. Owned by the Rapuzzi family since 1970, Ronchi di Cialla was one of the first to adopt integrated agriculture with a very low environmental impact. The basic idea is that wine is a product of the land, the direct result of a natural transformation that does not require external intervention and manipulation. Innovators by nature, the family has never denied a strong link with the past. In fact, Paolo and Dina Rapuzzi are responsible for the rediscovery and enhancement of the autochthonous vine Schioppettino (DOC Colli Orientali del Friuli since 1989) which today, together with Ribolla, Friulano, Refosco, Verduzzo and Pignolo, represents one of the milestones of the company. Today the company can count on a total of 26 hectares and "Cialla" represents one of the most valuable sub-zones of the Colli Orientali del Friuli Denomination.

  • Sensations Deep and brilliant purplish red colour. The bouquet is warm, fruity and moderately spicy with hints of cherry, blackberry, plum and sweet spices. On the palate it is dry and very full-bodied despite the low alcohol content and tannic texture, fruity, elegant and balanced.
