Pol Roger presents this interesting Brut Blanc de Blancs 2015, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes sourced from villages classified as Grand Cru in the Côte des Blancs: Oiry, Chouilly, Cramant, Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. A cuvée produced in limited quantities, this Champagne matures for 6 years in the Maison's cellars before being released to the market. The Pol Roger cellars, among other things, are among the deepest in the region, and are a full 33 meters below street level. Another special feature then, is that remuage is still done by hand. Now a rarity in modern Champagne. The 2015 Blanc de Blancs is a beautiful pale gold hue, with greenish undertones and a steady effervescence of beautiful finesse. Expressive and powerful, the nose recalls notes of lemon zest and cream. Then mocha and cocoa, notes of sweets and fresh butter. In the mouth, these elegant buttery notes are then met again, with hints of pastry. Rich Champagne, perfectly combining power and finesse.
