Champagne Brut Rose' Premier Cru - Pierre Gobillard

Rosé, in Champagne and around the world, is increasingly fashionable. It is liked for its versatility that makes it, at the same time, a fantastic aperitif but also a wine that can accompany lunches and dinners. It has what it takes. The one proposed here by Pierre Gobillard is the result of a blend in which Chardonnay predominates, about 75%. The remainder is, of course, Pinot Noir which gives the blend power and structure. Specifically, it is not a vintage but a cuvée that comes from the grapes of the 2009 vintage combined with a percentage of reserve wines of the 2007 vintage, making it more complex and elegant. Alcoholic fermentation in steel, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation to smooth out the edges and make the base wine more harmonious. Then to the white cuvée a small percentage of Coteaux Rouge, from the same vintage, vinified in red is added. Followed by 24 months on the lees and 3 months of rest in the cellar after dégorgement. It has a beautiful salmon pink colour to the eye, with a lively effervescence. On the nose, scents of jasmine flowers with hints of exotic fruit. While in the mouth it is fresh and smooth with a touch of pink grapefruit.

There is Champagne and then there is Premier Cru. Still Champagne, of course, but coming from villages classified in this way for the quality of the grapes that are produced there and, consequently, for the wines that are made there. Pierre Gobillard has vineyards exclusively in Hautvillers, the famous town that saw Dom Perignon among its most illustrious citizens and where the famous abbey is located, a place of pilgrimage for millions of wine lovers. Not just any place. Hervé Gobillard represents today the third generation of vigneron of this small company. A family business, it was founded at the beginning of the last century by Hervé Gervais Gobillard. Over the years, without forgetting the tradition, the small company has been able to establish itself in the world, creating wines characterized by an unmistakable style.
