Peter Lehmann is more than just a winery – it is a true legend of viticulture. The story of Peter Lehmann Wines begins in 1979, at a time of deep crisis for Barossa growers. Due to a surplus of grapes, the major wine companies chose not to honour their purchase contracts, leaving hundreds of families with their crops rotting on the vines. Peter, who at the time worked as a director in one of these large companies, refused to accept this betrayal. He resigned and, with a handshake and a risky loan, decided to buy the grapes himself and vinify them independently. Thus, “Masterson Barossa Vineyards” was born, later renamed after him. This act earned him the nickname “Baron of Barossa” and created an unbreakable bond with local growers – a relationship of trust that continues to this day across several generations. Today, the company does not own vast estates but collaborates with over 140 independent growers. This approach allows access to an extraordinary diversity of microclimates and soils, ensuring remarkable consistency in quality. Every sip is a tribute to the man who, rather than betray his fellow growers, ended up creating a legend.
