Simply spectacular, this pure Chardonnay proposed by Muzic. Collio DOC, it comes from a careful vinification of grapes from the municipality of San Floriano. Gentle hilly terrain, with soils consisting of marl and sandstone, where the vines can sink their roots, drawing the necessary nourishment from deep within. Harvested by hand within the first ten days of September, the grapes are processed with the strictest respect for the cold chain in order to enhance the primary aromas. After vinification, the wine matures for several months in steel tanks, in contact with its noble lees. Brilliant straw yellow in colour, this wine has intense, fine and elegant aromas reminiscent of green apple and to some extent bread crust. In the mouth it is dry, full-bodied, fresh and balanced. On the table it goes well with first courses and white meats. It is also excellent with tasty fish dishes.
At a crossroads between the road that climbs from Gorizia to the summit of San Floriano del Collio and the one that descends towards Preval, stands the Muzic estate, owned by Ivan and Orieta and their children Elija and Fabijan. A family-run business founded in 1963, today it can count on about 24 hectares of vineyards, 90% of which are cultivated with white grape varieties. An annual production of around 110 thousand bottles, produced mainly from the main indigenous grape varieties such as Ribolla Gialla, Tocai friulano, Malvasia Istriana and Picolit, but also with the great international varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay. The Muzic winery is ideally divided into two parts. The historic one, restored in the early 2000s, dates back to the 16th century and is one of the oldest in San Floriano. Miraculously escaped the devastation of the world wars, it has exposed stone walls and vaulted ceilings. Here are the wooden barrels in which the red wines rest and mature. Harmoniously connected to this is the modern, technologically advanced cellar, equipped with thermo-controlled stainless steel tanks.
