The Blanc de Noir indication on the label leaves no doubt. This fine classic method sparkling wine from Oltrepadano is produced only from black grapes. And since Oltrepò is a land of Pinot Noir, it is clear that the basis of its cuvée is only wine produced with this noble French grape variety. The process, after the first alcoholic fermentation for the creation of the base wine, includes a long maturation in the bottle. About 3 years spent in close contact with its own yeasts. A period necessary for the wine to enrich itself and become even more complex, as well as to make the bubbles well-integrated and very subtle. A real treat for the palate. The result is a wine characterized by a beautiful straw yellow colour with golden reflections. The nose clearly perceives the freshest aromas of white flowers, ripe yellow fruit, as well as a definite note of yeast that manifests itself in the form of toast and croissants. In the mouth it is surprising for its balance. Justly fresh thanks to its natural acidity, from the very first sip it reveals a pleasant sapidity and a long and pleasant finish.
Isimbarda's history is that of ancient nobility of wine but much more as well. The name, for example, derives from the Marquis Isimbardi, a patrician family that owned the Santa Giuletta estate at the end of the 18th century. Later, in the 19th century, it was Don Luigi Isimbardi who followed its development, being a precursor of modern viticultural techniques. The family coat of arms is still present in the logo of the winery, which has been managed by Luigi Meroni since 1991. In the countryside the care of the vineyards is almost maniacal, with perfectly grassed rows that are tended like gardens. In the winery there is no lack of technology, and it is used to get the best out of the beautiful grapes of the Oltrepò from which wines of great personality and stylistic precision are obtained. From Bonarda to Pinot Noir, there are few Isimbarda wines that have not received awards and recognition around the world.
