"Maraveis" Pinot Bianco Fiuli DOC 2020

The name Maraveis, in Friulian dialect, translates as 'marvels'. And it is a particularly apt name for this white wine from Forchir, which is truly a marvel of scents, aromas and flavours. Not the classic simple and immediate white, this Friuli DOC is the result of a pure processing of Pinot Bianco grapes, of ancient Burgundian origin. This vine lends itself, and this wine fully demonstrates this, to long processing that culminates in a phase of maturation in wooden barrels. Here, in addition to everything else, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, which gives it that extra touch of creaminess and a remarkable capacity for ageing. It is no coincidence that its producers call it the "soloist par excellence!", i.e. a white wine that can also be served a degree warmer than normal, to accompany a long evening of chatting with friends. Surely no one will be disappointed. If, on the other hand, we want to bring it to the table, the suggestion is to focus on intense and delicate flavours at the same time. An excellent smoked fish, such as salmon, is certainly the right choice.
