The 2015 Taurasi exudes a baroque opulence, with generous layers of tobacco, black cherry and chocolate. The acidity and minerality help to streamline the mouthfeel just a bit, but this remains a large-scale, full-bodied red nevertheless. This wine will be released at the end of this year. I could see a pairing with agnolotti stuffed with roasted meat. The warm and sunny 2015 vintage was especially kind to the Aglianico grape.

  • James Suckling 93

A meaty, enticing Taurasi that shows dried cloves, black pepper, berries, tobacco and spices. The full-bodied palate portrays a fascinating juxtaposition between driven, steely acidity and ripe dark fruit, with tea-bag character in the mix, too. Drink from 2021.

  • Wine Enthusiast 91

Aromas evoking black-skinned berry, new leather, blue flower, Asian spice and dried botanical herb waft out of the glass. On the taut, linear palate, youthfully austere, fine-grained tannins envelope cranberry, pomegranate, star anise and a hint of ground clove while surprisingly fresh acidity for the hot vintage keeps it balanced. It's still young and needs a few more years to unwind. Drink 2023–2030. KERIN O’KEEFE

    Taurasi DOCG 2019
  • It is one of the highest expressions of the Aglianico grape in Campania. We are talking about His Majesty the Taurasi DOCG, proposed here by Feudi di San Gregorio in an elegant dress that fits well within the Eccellenze line. An important bottle and an elegant label dress this prestigious red wine, which in the glass has a beautiful bright ruby colour with garnet reflections. The scents, particularly intense in this case, recall the fragrances of sour cherry and morello cherry. Then cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and even aniseed. In the mouth it is a wine that is full-bodied but balanced. The tannins, well evident in this type, are sweet and soft and give the wine a good aromatic persistence. This is the result of a long maturation in medium-toasted French oak barriques. It takes at least 18 months to reach the right maturity. Time well spent. You can bet on it.

There is a subtle fil-rouge that unites everything that has been done at Feudi di San Gregorio since its inception in 1986. It is the desire to make the most of the priceless heritage of indigenous grape varieties of Campania tradition. Starting with Greco, Fiano and Aglianico, the true regional flag bearers. Today the company can count on a total of 300 hectares of vineyards, divided into over 800 plots that differ in altitude, exposure and slopes. A marvellous natural puzzle that perfectly expresses the biodiversity of the territory and is able to give life to extraordinary cru. It is currently one of the leading wineries in Southern Italy, with exports covering more than 50 countries worldwide. The experience gained over the years has therefore led the Capaldo family, who have always been the mind and soul of the company, to decide to explore the winemaking potential of other regions of Italy. This is how the "Tenute Capaldo" project was born, which includes a complex of wineries ranging from DUBL, also from Campania, to Campo alle Comete in Tuscany, passing through Basilisco, an organic winery in Vulture, Ognissole, a biodynamic winery in Puglia, Sirch, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, and finally FedeGraziani, a small jewel on the slopes of Etna. They all share the same values: to produce wines of excellent quality while respecting their territory.
