"Vivia" Bianco Maremma Toscana DOC 2022
  • You think of Toscane and generally end up thinking only of its great reds. In reality, however, Tuscany offers a climate and terroir that are also particularly suited to the production of great white wines. The Maremma, in particular, is an area of Tuscany that is becoming increasingly popular for the production of white wines. The climate here is mild and Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. The Maremma soils are also able to give wines great freshness, minerality and longevity. A fine example is this Vivia, a white DOC wine from the Maremma, made from Vermentino, Viognier and Ansonica grapes. Vermentino, in particular, present on all the Mediterranean coasts, finds a simply ideal habitat in Tuscany. As does the Ansonica, a native Tuscan grape, which produces fresh, mineral wines. Finally, Viognier, originally from France, produces fruity and spicy wines. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified separately to preserve their freshness and liveliness. After blending, the three wines are then refined in the bottle for at least 6 months. Vivia is straw yellow in colour with brilliant greenish highlights. On the nose, the olfactory impact is intense and characterised by pleasant aromas of ripe fruit, such as pear, apple and pineapple, well in harmony with fine notes of orange blossom and chamomile. Elegant citrus and Mediterranean herb sensations reminiscent of sage complete the bouquet. On the palate, however, it is vibrant and savoury, with a final freshness that persists, showing hints of lemon and rosemary. Perfect with fish starters, white meats and seafood dishes. For lovers of territorial pairings, this Antinori house white is also perfect with Cacciucco alla Livornese.

It can be said that the Antinori family has represented Italian wine in the world practically as long as it has existed. And that would not even be an exaggeration given that the Antinori have dedicated themselves to the vineyard and the cellar for more than six hundred years. Ever since Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri in 1385. Since then, no less than 26 generations of the family have succeeded one another at the helm of the group, which today is one of the best known and most appreciated worldwide. Today, the company is headed by Marchese Piero Antinori, with the support of his three daughters Albiera, Allegra and Alessia, all personally involved in the company's activities. To the family's historic Tuscan and Umbrian estates, several others have been added over time. Everywhere, the aim of the Antinori family is to make the most of the peculiar terroir, to produce fascinating and somehow memorable wines. Among the 'masterpieces' signed by Antinori, one cannot forget the family's great Supertuscans, Solaia and Tignanello, mythical bottles that enthusiasts all over the world eagerly await, vintage after vintage. Or the Chianti Classico wines that represent a quality benchmark for all enthusiasts.
