Château Tertre de Launay
This white wine comes from a very special region. We're in France, in the Bordeaux area, between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. The area is called Entre-Deux-Mers, ‘between two seas’, a hilly region renowned for the production of fresh and aromatic white wines, thanks to the predominantly clayey-calcareous soil and a climate influenced by the proximity of the two rivers. Here Château Tertre de Launay produces this dry white wine made up of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 21% Sémillon, 14% Sauvignon Gris and 5% Muscadelle. The vinification process involves a maceration on the skins followed by fermentation in stainless steel vats with strict protection from oxygen to preserve the primary aromas. Finally, the wine matures on the fine lees, acquiring complexity and structure. In the glass it is pale yellow with silvery reflections. The nose reveals an expressive and elegant bouquet with hints of white flowers and wild peach. In the mouth it is fresh on the palate, with a harmonious balance between roundness and liveliness, and notes of stewed nectarines. It goes well with fish, seafood and shellfish dishes. However, its freshness also makes it suitable for accompanying light appetisers and summer salads.
In the heart of the region called Entre-Deux-Mers, between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, lies Château Tertre de Launay, a Greffier winery with over 150 years of history dedicated exclusively to the production of dry white wines. Today, with the fifth generation of the family at the helm, the château continues to honour the family tradition. The company's vineyards extend over 74 hectares of land, all located around the estate and include the highest point in the Gironde department. This privileged position offers optimal conditions for the cultivation of vines, thanks to a terroir characterised by clay-limestone soils that give the wines a particular complexity and finesse. For over 25 years, the company has adopted the practice of controlled grassing, a technique that favours the natural control of vine growth and contributes to soil health. This sustainable approach, combined with cutting-edge winemaking methods, testifies to the Greffier family's commitment to producing high quality wines.
