"Alter Ego" Margaux Médoc 2021

Alter Ego is a classic Bordeaux blend, offered here by Château Palmer. It belongs to the AOC Margaux and is produced from grapes harvested on the château's beautiful estate, which covers a total area of over 60 hectares. This is a splendid area suited to quality wine growing, thanks to the special composition of the soils, rich in alluvial gravel deposited by the two main rivers, the Garonne and the Dordogne. The climate here is temperate and is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, which is only a few kilometres away as the crow flies. The basic blend consists of 51% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot. Historic vineyards cultivated with a high density of vines per hectare to reduce the yield per plant and obtain higher quality fruit. Super traditional vinification, after fermentation, which takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, the wine matures for at least 18 months in wooden barrels. The classic Bordeaux barriques. Ruby red with garnet reflections, the nose reveals a fresh and fragrant bouquet, with clear and recognisable notes of red berry fruit. Then come hints of sweet spices and slight hints of aromatic herbs. In the mouth, finally, one discovers a decisive but soft red. From the very first sip, one is pleasantly surprised by the delicacy of the tannic texture and the long, harmonious finish. An extremely enjoyable wine, it goes well with meat dishes or medium-aged cheeses. Long live Bordeaux!
