Château Lamothe Vincent 3 Chemin laurenceau, 33760 Montignac, Entre Deux Mers, Bordeaux
The most classic of French reds, from the Bordeaux region. A 'Rouge Rèserve', red reserve, from Château Lamothe Vincent. The starting grapes come from three plots in the villages of Montignac, where the winery is also based, Castelvieil and Daubéze. Clay soils, with the presence of silica, limestone and iron, are perfect for growing Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. After manual harvesting, there follows a 6-day cold pre-fermentation maceration and alcoholic fermentation. For maturation, then, part of the wine remains in steel vats and part is passed into French oak barrels for about 9 months. In the glass, this Bordeaux has a beautiful bright red colour, with a varied and elegant bouquet of red fruits, currants and Cassis, then black fruits, such as blackberry and blueberry, all accompanied by hints of liquorice. In the mouth, it reveals good structure and fine tannins, with a finish reminiscent of black fruits and toasted hints. Good already, the Bordeaux Rouge Rèserve is a bottle perfectly capable of evolving in the cellar for another 5 or 6 years, reaching its qualitative apex only in more than 10 years. On the table, once uncorked, it pairs perfectly with red meats, especially grilled, but also lamb and game.
This Château is located in Montignac, in the famous Bordeaux wine region, specifically in the Entre-deux-Mers area, whose name refers to the tides and geographical location in the middle of the two rivers Garonne and Dordogne. The first lands were purchased by the family between 1873 and 1920. From the first vintage, 1988, bottled by owners Bernard Vincent and his wife Josette, the reviews were excellent. And when their son Christophe joined the company in 1990, the vineyards were reorganised. Finally, in 1999, the team was enriched by their other son Fabien, preparing the winery for the challenges of the new millennium. Today, the estate comprises a total of 90 hectares under vine with various soil types.
