    Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2023
    • A legendary grape variety such as Cabernet Sauvignon meets the sun-drenched land of Mendoza. This is the Reserva signed by Bodega Trapiche. Founded back in 1883, this winery is a true Argentine institution and has successfully guided local winemaking tradition towards world-class excellence. We are in Cruz de Piedra, an area of Maipú considered the very heart of Mendoza winemaking. Here, the soil is a mosaic of pebbles and alluvial sediments that force the vine roots deep into the ground. The climate is dry and marked by strong temperature variation between day and night. This contrast is the secret behind the wine’s freshness. While the sun ripens the grapes and concentrates sugars, the cool nights slow the process down and preserve acidity. Cabernet Sauvignon is the undisputed star here. In this land, the variety expresses itself with a power and aromatic precision that have little to envy from the great European classics. The grapes grow in vineyards situated at around 700 metres above sea level, where the light is pure and bright. After harvest, fermentation is carefully managed before the wine rests for 9 months in French oak barriques. This oak ageing is not intended to mask the aromas, but rather to tame the exuberance of the tannins and provide the velvety structure that makes the wine so enjoyable. In the glass, the wine displays an intense ruby-red colour with violet reflections. On the nose, there is an explosion of small dark berries such as blackcurrant and blackberry, accompanied by the unmistakable note of sweet pepper typical of the variety. Hints of sweet spices, black pepper and a delicate touch of tobacco inherited from the oak also emerge. On the palate, it enters with confidence yet remains balanced. The tannins are present and give character, but they are beautifully integrated into a rich and persistent structure finishing with remarkable purity. This is a wine that is in no rush. Thanks to its structure and oak maturation, it has ageing potential comfortably reaching up to 10 years. Even today, however, it is already a true star at the table. Perfect with classic grilled meats — perhaps hanger steak or ribs — where the richness of the dish is beautifully balanced by the wine’s tannins.

Bodega Trapiche is not only one of Argentina’s oldest and most awarded wineries, but also a true compass that helped guide the global success of Malbec. Founded in 1883 in Mendoza, Trapiche transformed semi-arid land at the foot of the Andes into a world-class wine-growing oasis, while preserving the charm that has distinguished it for more than 140 years. Everything began in a small vineyard called “El Trapiche”, in the district of Godoy Cruz. Since then, the winery has never stopped looking ahead. It was the first to introduce French oak barriques to Argentina and among the first to invest in international grape varieties at a time when the domestic market remained very closed. Today, the heart of the winery lies in Maipú, inside a magnificent Florentine Renaissance-style building dating back to 1912. Stepping inside feels like travelling through time: historic walls coexist with cutting-edge technology, creating a perfect dialogue between the wisdom of the past and the precision of the future. Trapiche manages more than 1,200 hectares of estate vineyards, but its true strength lies in its profound understanding of terroir. The winery was among the pioneers in exploring “micro-terroirs”, recognising that each individual parcel of land — depending on altitude and soil composition — can deliver completely different nuances.
