    "Sirena" Langhe DOC Arneis 2023
  • We are located in the magnificent and iconic hills of the Langhe, in Piedmont. This is where Sirena, Langhe Arneis DOC by Ca' Viola, a white wine that captivates with its delicacy and harmony, was born. The grapes, pure Arneis, that make up Sirena come from vineyards rooted in limestone-clay soils, rich in minerals, where the climate is characterised by harsh winters and warm, breezy summers. These are ideal conditions for ripening the grapes, guaranteeing them a perfect balance between sugars and acidity. Arneis, an indigenous Piedmontese variety, is distinguished by its finesse and aromaticity. Harvesting takes place at the beginning of September, preserving the freshness and integrity of the fruit. Once in the cellar, the grapes are softly pressed and the must is fermented in steel at a controlled temperature for approximately 10-12 days. In the glass, it reveals a pale straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. On the nose, an intense and fragrant bouquet, where scents of wild flowers, such as chamomile and white flowers, combine with delicate notes of white-fleshed fruit, such as peach and pear. Then hints of aromatic herbs and citrus fruits that give the wine a fresh and lively character. In the mouth, it conquers with its harmony and balance. The residual sweetness is well balanced by a lively acidity. A fresh and pleasant sip, with hints of fresh fruit and a long finish. Ideal as an aperitif, it accompanies fish or vegetable starters, risottos or pasta salads.

This is the story of a dream come true. A dream that has its origins in the beautiful hills of the Langa, where Beppe Caviola, a budding young oenologist, started his small wine production in the 1980s. We are in Montelupo Albese. Here, Beppe, together with his friend Maurizio Anselmo, rents his first vineyard, Barturot, and, like a local Steve Jobs, uses his parents' garage to create his first wine. Little more than an experiment, let's be clear, but already capable of attracting the attentions of a great figure in the wine world like Elio Altare, who sensed the potential of this young winemaker and encouraged Beppe to bottle his product. Thus was born, in 1991, the first label signed Ca' Viola. From then on it would be a long ride. A continuous expansion and experimentation. In 2002 Beppe, with his wife Simonetta, moved the winery to Dogliani and here, at Villa Bracco, a modern centre was born where production, consultancy and tourist hospitality coexist in harmony. So much has been achieved since the family's small garage. But Beppe Caviola does not seem to look back. Rather, his gaze is always turned towards the future and the next challenges to be faced.
