  • Sensations It is a light straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. Thin, abundant bubble with good tear formation. Intense aroma, with fruity notes of green apple enriched by fine balsamic, toasted and spicy touches, inherited from the ageing in oak. Dry and glyceric on the palate, with dense, creamy foam that highlights the freshness of the fruit and balsamic notes, against a background of toast and vanilla.
  • Vinification Fermented and matured on the lees for 6 months in French oak barriques. Maturation in bottle: 4 years. Total acidity: 6.4 g/l.

    Cava Agustí Torelló Gran Reserva Barrica
  • If anyone still believes that Cava, the good Spanish Metodo Classico, are mostly simple and drinkable, endowed with little personality, they should undoubtedly try this Cava Gran Reserva Barrica 2014 proposed by Agustí Torreló. Macabeo in purity, this sparkling wine comes from base wines that are fermented and aged in barriques for about 6 months. At that point they are bottled and sent to the second fermentation in the cellar. Maturation on the lees lasts for about 4 years, the time needed to make the wine rich and extremely complex, while remaining fresh and pleasant. In the glass, in fact, it has a beautiful straw yellow color, with greenish reflections still very evident, despite the long ageing. The bubble is thin and plentiful. The nose reveals intense aromas, with fruity notes of green apple to which elegant balsamic touches, toasting and spices are added due undoubtedly to the ageing of base wines in oak. In the mouth, then, is appreciated for its great elegance. It is decidedly dry, perfect for serving with fish and meat dishes, with a pleasantly glyceric texture. The fruity notes perceived earlier return, with a nice balsamicity, and a pleasant toasty finish.

    Agustí Torreló Mata, the son of tailors and musicians, was introduced at a very young age to the world of Cava, which soon became his passion and profession. In 1953, he inaugurated the first analysis laboratory in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, and over the years has managed important wineries in the sector. However, the milestone came in 1959, when he founded his own company, which allowed him to create his personal brand, Agustí Torreló Mata, in 1993. President and founder of the Honor of the Cava Association, first oenological gold medal of the Ministry of Agriculture and agricultural merit medal of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Agustí has had plenty of opportunities to prove his worth. Today the company has underground cellars where, protected from light and with constant humidity and temperature, excellent Metodo Classico wines mature, often with exceptional complexity. The winery produces only Reserves and Grand Reserves.
