Imbottigliato da Veuve Clicquot
Veuve Clicquot Extra Brut Extra Old 4 is a refined expression of the Maison's art of blending, the result of an exclusive selection of six prestigious reserve wines: 1996, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014. As in the creation of a perfume, the essence of these mature wines, defined as ‘spicy’, gives concentration and depth to the blend, enhancing the purity of its style. Aged in the Maison's historic chalk cellars for at least three years before disgorgement, this Champagne is distinguished by its complex and enveloping structure, enhanced by an Extra Brut dosage of only 3 g/l. In the glass it has a bright golden colour and a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is rich and elegant, with floral notes of lime blossom and honeysuckle, nuances of green tea, citrus accents of grapefruit and lemon, and a fruity background of pear and Mirabelle plum. In the mouth, the vibrant freshness blends with hints of ginger, bread dough and a delicate minerality, giving a salty and persistent finish. A unique sensorial experience, ideal to accompany oysters, raw seafood and aged cheeses.
If Champagne is what it is today, also from a stylistic point of view, we owe a lot to the famous ‘widow’, Veuve Clcquot. One of the most well-known and respected women in Champagne, she contributed with her work, great determination and intuition, to making the famous French sparkling wine a true symbol of elegance and refinement. She created the first Vintage Champagne in 1810, invented the riddling table, forerunner of the modern racks, and produced the first Rosé Champagne in 1816. But the fortunes of the widow Clicquot are above all linked to those of the Russian empire, from the very beginning the maison's first client. Today Veuve Clicquot, which is part of the prestigious luxury goods group LVMH, has over 390 vineyards throughout the region, more than 80% of which are Grand Cru and Premier Cru plots.
