Its name, and its label, are reminiscent of the Pettirosso, or 'Pitaro' in Venetian dialect. And if you read the label you discover that it is a Corvina, Verona IGP, Organic, which is part of Tinazzi's young and fresh line. The Corvina, whose name - contrary to what many believe - does not refer to crows but to the dark colour of its bunches, is used in this case in purity to give life to a super immediate and very enjoyable wine. The grapes come from hilly, sunny vineyards in the province of Verona, where they have time to ripen to perfection, developing sugar and interesting aromas. Vinification is simple but accurate, with crushing and destemming, followed by fermentation and maceration at controlled temperature for 7-10 days. Then refinement in steel before bottling, to safeguard the richness of the initial fruit. Also in this case, all winemaking processes are conducted in compliance with the rules of European organic certification. Brilliant red in colour, the nose reveals intense aromas of red fruit, predominantly cherry, as well as light spicy hints. In the mouth it is harmonious, with good persistence and a natural pleasantness. Served at the right temperature, between 16 and 18 degrees, this Veronese goes well with red meats, especially grilled, but also with medium-aged cheeses. Truly a fine wine of the territory.
Nomen omen', said the ancient Romans. And this saying applies perfectly to the Tinazzi family since, in Veronese tradition, this term was used to indicate the containers in which the grapes were left to ferment to make wine. The history of this beautiful family business began in the 1960s. We are on the shores of Lake Garda. Here, in Cavaion Veronese to be precise, Eugenio Tinazzi founded his small winery to produce and sell the wines of the area. With the arrival in the company of his son Gian Andrea, still very young, Tinazzi began a tumultuous path of growth that led the small Veneto-based company first to expand into the main areas of Valpolicella, and then to take the leap and buy new estates in Puglia. Today, Francesca and Giorgio, the third generation, have joined Gian Andrea in the family business. There are still many goals to be achieved and markets to be conquered.
