  • Sensations Straw yellow colour of a beautiful intensity. The earliness of the harvest date has made it possible to produce a wine that brings out citrus and exotic fruit aromas, followed by some mint notes. The aromatic freshness is confirmed in the mouth with an exceptional balance between amplitude and acidity.
  • Vinification The grapes were harvested by hand in 15 kg crates in the early hours of the morning and immediately cooled on arrival in the cellar to keep all the aromatic potential intact. After careful selection, the whole bunches were subjected to a slow, soft pressing with maximum attention to protection against oxidation. After static decantation for about 12 hours, the musts were placed in new barriques (25%), used barriques (25%), and steel and cement vats (50%). Alcoholic fermentation took place at temperatures not exceeding 22°C. Malolactic fermentation was not carried out. Maturation continued for 6 months on the lees with bâtonnage throughout the period. Before bottling, the blending of the various batches and a light clarification were carried out. The wine then underwent a further 12 months of bottle ageing before release.

The vineyards are divided into small parcels "each one is a microcosm, with its own identity and language". All around, the Mediterranean maquis reigns free. Among the varieties the winery focuses on are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the real stars of the estate. With them Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. Then Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Manseng, Viognier and the 'local' Verdicchio and Vermentino. Owned by the Frescobaldi family, 40 years after its foundation, today the name Ornellaia is one of the symbols of good Italian living in the world and represents timeless elegance.
