    "Rue dell'Inchiostro" Aglianico IGT 2021
    • Today we find ourselves in a particularly charming corner of Campania. We are in the heart of Irpinia, between Paternopoli and Taurasi, in the province of Avellino. Here, between 400 and 500 metres above sea level, on volcanic soils, this red wine with character is born. “Rue” dell'Inchiostro is a clear reference to France. The word “rue” in particular recalls the streets of Paternopoli during the Napoleonic occupation. “Inchiostro”, on the other hand, alludes to the bright purple colour of the wine. Made from 100% Aglianico, this grape variety is the native grape par excellence of Irpinia. Rich in tannins and sugars, it is capable of developing complexity and longevity. On the nose, red fruits alternate with elegant oriental notes of liquorice and chocolate, with balsamic hints and a final touch of sandalwood. On the palate, it is well-balanced: warm but not heavy, with soft tannins and a finish that lingers on the palate. Already good today, thanks to its great structure, it can be kept for a few years in the cellar: in the first 3-5 years it shows a fruity and fresh character; with longer ageing it tends to develop greater complexity, with tertiary nuances and delicate toasted-spicy hints. A wine suitable for many occasions, from dinner with friends to important dishes such as a tagliata or roast. But it also manages to surprise on more casual occasions: with a well-structured pizza or a platter of cold cuts and cheeses.

      A dynamic and modern winery, Vini Nativ was founded in 2008 in the hills of Irpinia, between Paternopoli and Taurasi, in the province of Avellino. The initiative was founded by Mario Ercolino, an oenologist, and Roberta Pirone, a biologist specialising in food science. The name “Nativ” is no coincidence: it refers to the deep connection with native varieties, born from the desire to enhance the essence of the territory through local grape varieties. Today, the winery has around 15 hectares of vineyards planted with Fiano di Avellino, Greco, Falanghina and Aglianico, as well as other minor native varieties that allow it to offer a wide and representative bouquet of Irpinia. In the cellar, Nativ combines modern techniques with respect for tradition: temperature-controlled fermentation, ageing in barriques or tonneaux only when necessary to enrich complexity, as well as various experiments to preserve the varietal identity intact.
